How serious is blood sugar reading of 346?!
Question: My fiance went to the doc today to see how is blood pressure was, it was fine but they checked his sugar and the reading was 346. he has to go back tomorrow for further test. But I am so worried. What does this mean, how serious? Can medicine or diet fix this? Thanks!!

Since the normal blood sugar reading should be somewhere around 120, that is high. However, take into consideration when the last meal was in relationship to when he had the tests at the doctor's office.
Depending on how long this has been going on, it may be controllable with changes to the diet and excercise. But, diabetes is no joke. My husband is a diabetic, and he was nonchalant about taking his blood sugar readings, even though his was MUCH higher than your fiance's. One day he went to the endocrinolgist at my begging, and the doctor told him he was a prime candidate for a heart attack or stroke. 6 days later, he had a heart attack, and spent 4 days in ICU.
DON'T PLAY WITH YOUR HEALTH. It's just not worth it.
That is VERY high! They will probably have to have him change his diet and possibly even put him on insulin.

You'll definitely need something to knock your sugar down. That's so high. Go ask your doctor what you should do, he'll more than likely give you medicine, but whatever brings that down to a more normal number, like 90 or so.

It high. Normal blood sugar level is between 90 and 120. So you can see that it is high. They may not be put on insulin if they are able to control it. There is a pill called metformen that controls your sugar. You just take it before meals. See a doctor ask for the options that are not insulin because once you are on it it is very hard to come off. Diabetes is serious. You could go blind, get infections, bad circulation, and sometimes when it gets very high you could go into a diabetic coma. Now I am only saying this to inform you not scare. I think you need to take them to a Doctor right away and explore your options. Good luck, stay healthy
Its pretty high but not high enough for an emergency, which is why the Dr. let him leave today. Most likely, he will be put on some meds and he should exercise. Best thing for you to do is educate yourself on Type 2 diabetes, and what to look for and do in a Diabetic Emergency.

it seems high but doesn't mean a thing, he needs to test sugar levels while fasting to determined weather he's a diabetic or not
That is high but it may be realated to what he'd eaten. That's probably why the're having him go back tomorrow, to check his blood fasting.
Also, to have a blood sugar that high probably means that it's been high for quite a while and the body gets used to always having a high blood sugar, that's why many diabetics don't realize they have diabetes.
In other words, he's not going to die from a blood sugar of 346. It can be controlled with diet, exercise and medication.
That is very high, and serious. It means something in his body is not working properly. They will most lickely have him make diet changes, and may put him on insulin. Doctor will probably also want him monitoring his sugar levels from now on.
