Fish allergies?!

Question: is there any seafood that a person can eat if they are allergic to seafood?

Answers: is there any seafood that a person can eat if they are allergic to seafood?

Individuals allergic to shellfish have a good 75% chance of being allergic to other shellfish - so all shellfish should be avoided when allergic to shellfish.

If allergic to fish, there's a 50% chance of having problems with other fishes. So, need to avoid all fish - for that reason, plus risk of contamination.

THere is little cross-reactivity between shellfish and fish. Best to get tested by a board certified allergist to figure out what you are allergic to and find out what you can/cannot eat.

Seafood or shellfish? There is a huge difference and if you aren't sure, you should stay away from both. My mother-in-law is allergic to shrimp but can eat mussels.
