How do you catch mono??!

Question: As some of the previous answers indicated, mononucleosis (or, "mono", also known as "the kissing disease") is HIGHLY contagious. It is usually spread through direct contact with an infected person's saliva (or even blood) - this MAY include: touching (or, close contact), coughing or sneezing, certainly from kissing, sharing straws, toothbrushes and utensils - Simply put, there are many ways to get it. According to my doctor, an infectious disease specialist, over 90% of people get it before they reach their 20's. It's very, very common. It's called the "kissing disease" because kissing is one of the most common ways to contract this disease. "Mono" is associated with flu-like symptoms that usually would go away in a matter of weeks, if so much. So, sometimes, even if you think you have the flu, you should still visit your doctor for examination in the event that it is something else and of course to treat it effectively. The EB Virus is the most common cause of infectious mononucleosis, so you should see a doctor if you have flu-like symptoms and you may need to do some blood work to find out if what you have is really "mono" or not. Hope this helps.

By kissing someone who has it, being in close contact, their spit getting on you, my doctor even said you could get it from a public drinking fountain.

sorry to have to tell you this but you can get mono from just breathing were someone who was infected breathed...VERY contagious...

You mean Infectious Mononucleosis? which is also known as "kissing disease". It transfer from person to person who kisses the infected person.
