I have the flu?!

Question: So I got tested yesterday, and it was positive for the flu. But my question is how come your body feels all achy and sore? I mean, its a disease in your respiratory system right? But my neck is stiff and sore and my whole body is just aching. Unless I've got this all wrong. And I gotta say, the flu is like 20x worse than a cold.

the flu impacts the entire body, it is spread thru the blood stream. You can also expect your intestinal flora to be wiped out and start having diarrhea. When this occurs you can mitigate it and shorten the duration by taking a probiotic like acidophilus which will replace your normal flora. The flu is indeed 20x worse than a cold, it is known to kill people that have a weakened immune system... the rest of us just wish it would. Hang in there, and don't go back to work or school until you are symptom free for 24 hours.

Yes it is. It affects everywhere. It is respiratory yes but it causes discomfort everywhere.

Yeah, your right, it is 20x worse than a cold and it is common to have body aches with the flu. It is a URI and you must take care of yourself, it can quickly turn into pneumonia and kill you if you don't take your medicine and rest.

You are a hypochondriac.

Go to sleep.
.

take rest and enjoy warm/hot soup, ginger tea, Tv, books/magazine, one week will pass in no time.

I've had the flu for 4 days it stinks I mean I feel great but test came back positive. My temp keeps being it will go down to 98.9 then 102.7 then 101.3 100.2 last night it was 103.0

yeah i had that stuff and it sucked i was in bed for 6 days i went to the docotor and nothing they could do for me and with that i had a real bad headache

Much of the aching associated with a virus comes from inflammation. Muscle tissues, the sheaths around your nervous system, mucous membranes, joint tissues, everything swells.

Talk to your doctor about the antiviral drugs out there - mainly Osetamivir and Zanamivir.

Without some serious help the worst is likely to last for two weeks and don't expect to start feeling really better for a month or more.

The flu always effects you entire body, aches , tiredness, Nausea , fever , the best thing you can do is stay in bed , drink plenty of fluids and wait it out , usually about 3 days.
