Coarctation of the aorta?!
Question: im doing a hypothetical case study on a 5yr old boy with CoAo, the kiddie has undergone cardiac catheterisation and they have located the region of the narrowing. i was thinking of writing about the lengt of it-does anyone know the average length of a coarctation?????

kind of a strange question.. in that it depends on the size or the aorta and thus the age of the child.. in neonates its tiny, a bit larger in children and a lot larger in adults.
In most circumstances it is a narrow band of tissue relative to the ductus arteriosus.
Length is not stated as it is not important... more important is the degree of stenosis (narrowing) and thus the flow restriction that it gives.
