My husband has very mild cat allergies (so do I) but I still want one?!

Question: What should I do? I told him I'm willing to bathe the cat, buy allerpet, vacumn like crazy and keep the cat out of the whole upstairs of the house. We had a cat for 3 years who died (she was very old and I had her since I was a teenager but he only lived with her for 3 years with me) and his allergies were not so bad. He had bad days but we dont' know if that was because of the cat or because of his other allergies.

Dear Skay: Please accept my condolences on the loss of your cat. I have 3 of my own, and I know they are like family members. You were taking the right steps, using the allerpet and keeping the cat out of the sleeping area. Your husband is allergic to a protein in the saliva and urine of cats. There is not an allergy-proof cat, because all cats produce urine and saliva. I am sending a link on what to do if you have cat allergies and want to keep the cat. It sounds like you were doing all the right things and if you are willing to go through the work again...then go for it.

You can buy cats now that have been bred to specifically get rid of the part that makes people allergic. They are expensive, though. Google- allergy free cats

Get a Siamese,i have had allergies all my life but I'm not allergic to that bread of cat

When I was 4 I did an allergy test, I remember it like yesterday, having needles stuck under my skin. I was allergic to cats and dogs. Growing up, we had 30-50 cats, 2 black labs, 5 birds, fish, turtles, rabbits and a squirrel. I have never had problems with my cats. I am 22, and I have 2 wonderful cats. I may not notice my problems cause I am so used to them. or I could have beaten my allergies towards cats.. anythings possible

goodluck
