One good place to start is here:

Or, you can use the same rule of thumb I do. If Mother Nature created it, it's probably good for you. In other words, most fruits and vegetables are not only good for you, they help reduce your need for diabetes medication. Since increasing my intake of fresh fruits and veggies, I no longer need any medication at all. (I'm type 2)

Peachy has some good suggestions, but not all fruits and veggies are created equally. Some are much higher in glycemic index than others.

Read http://www.mendosa.com the originator of the glycemic index. David Mendosa has a quite extensive listing of foods with reasons he has the numbers on them.

Try keeping to under 50 on his index listings.

Also do your own testing!! Check glucose level, eat a food, and test again 90 minutes to 2 hours later. If the food caused a jump of more than 50 points, consider if you will keep it in your food plan.

As each of us is a very unique individual, foods and meds react for us very uniquely also. Do your own testing and journal all results so you can refer back again.
