Does injecting insulin work better in the arm, leg or stomach- or are the result!

Question: the stomach works the fastest, but over time it will build up a layer of fatty scar tissue that is nearly impossible to get rid of, the arm is the second fastest and then the leg is the longest. Injecting insulin in the stomach usually reacts accordingly to the insulin you are taking, if humalog, 70/30 or a mixed insulin it usually takes up to a half an hour but injected in a place such as your leg with more fat, it can take up to 2 hours, your best bet in in your stomach, and rotate in your arm, dont keep the same spot for every injection, it will cause bruising and scar tissue buildup

the best place to inject your insulin is in your stomach,or the back of your upper arm in the fattest area.

The best absorption of insulin occurs with injections in the abdomen. Slowest is in the legs. More important than how fast insulin is absorbed is consistency. That is why the ADA now recommends rotating sites in one location, for example the right arm, before moving to another location. You should be able to get between 9 and 12 injections in one area before moving to another area. Just keep injections separated by about 1 inch each time. In this way the insulin is consistantly absorbed each time you inject because it is being absorbed from the same general location for several days.

Insulin can be injected any where in the body with same effect. it is covienient to inject in abdominal wall and safe.

I was going to answer this both as a nurse and a diabetic but Cowgurlz beat me to it.
Pax,
Debra

THE STOMACH IS FASTER AND HURTS LESS.

results vary as stomach is quickest to absorb the insulin followed by the arm then the leg you can also do it in your calf muscle which distributes more evenly

ask you doctor or a nurse. or you can go with one of the given answers.
