Answers: How many days do I need to wait to drink alcohol (3 glasses wine?) AFTER taking flagyl? ~Thanks~!

The general recommended guidelines is 1 to 3 days. 2 reasons really. 1st being the antabuse effect which can be very severe. 2nd a seretonin poisoning (new study from ovt/nov of last year)
What I would do if I was you would wait 1.5 days. so if your last dose is in the morning wait one day, and then the next night you should be fine.

you should finish the medication first because it may affect on how it works and you may not get rid of the infection completely if you stop it before time.

Do you have to wait? I never do.

The only reason you aren't supposed to drink while you are on an antibiotic is because the antibiotic won't work as well. You won't die or anything like that but the antibiotic will not do it's job...

Three, to be safe, but the Antabuse-like reaction only happens in perhaps 10%, so if you're feeling lucky, you can gamble on something earlier.

I would wait at least a few days......otherwise you may have adverse reaction. Asking your doctor would be the wise thing to do....some of the answers are dead wrong that you are getting.

check with your dr or pharmacist
