the Dr. must feel it is a mild case if he is having you take pepto 2x a day otherwise he would have given you a prescription for a stronger med

In the drug reference book it says that prolonged use may cause constipation but that it is not habit forming but it doesn't say how long is too long to take it.

FYI- just so you don't freak out, it does say that you could have black stools and/or a dark tongue but that these symptoms are normal and medically insignificant
