I hit my shin hard?!

Question: I hit my shin hard today by not paying attention as i walked by a chair. I have a four inch raised red line on my shin now. I'm pretty sure this will leave a scar if i don't do anything do it. To prevent a BAD scar is there something I can put on it like Vitamin E? Aloe Vera? Cocoa butter? And, how soon can I put it on? Thanks.

clean it and put neosporn on. it works really fast and really well and should be gone in one to two days if applied after a shower and at night before bed.
