HPV Questions?!

Question: I've been with my bf for 3 years...so I've only been sexually active with him since we started dating.
i've had regular PAPs since we started and in the summer one came back abnormal....i just recently went back to the dr (they said come back in 6 months for another PAP) and i'm wondering:
how long will the PAP take, how long (average) will it take for the dr to get back to me (if anything is wrong)?
and if its possible to have hpv, after 3 years and neither of us (me or my bf) has slept with anyone else?
Sorry, i know the questions are a little nieve, but I couldn't find any info online

They are just waiting to see if the cells revert back to normal, so obviously they weren't extremely abnormal. Other viruses can cause cervical cells to act funny, so by the time 6 months is up, they will hopefully return to normal. HPV is not only sexually transmitted. It can be transmitted through skin to skin contact & is the virus responsible for not only genital warts but also skin tags & warts like you get on your fingers, so it doesn't necessarily mean your partner has been unfaithful as some people might htink at first. They usually tell you if your pap comes back +HPV. Just b/c pap abnormal does not definitely mean HPV.

No doctors will try to diagnose you in this place (Yahoo Answers) even if there were any doctors here. This is a community where people just come to wait until supper is ready. You need to seek medical help in a medical facility and the last time I look Yahoo Answers was not a medical facility.

First off, DO NOT freak out about a pap smear being abnormal. millions of women have heard those words to only find out later absolutly nothing was wrong with them. My mother has only always been with my dad for 59 years, likewise with him and her papsmear was abnormal 3 years in a row then then the next two years it was perfectly fine.
Trust your doctor to let you know if something major is going on instead of just a minor blimp on the screen.
