Lung collapse?!

Question: Last August my lung collasped twice in a week, and I had three drains in my chest.
I am still getting an awful lot of pain from the site of the drains

Is it normal to have so much pain after nearly 6 months? Eventually I had to have an operation to glue the lung up.

to drain the air or fluid compressing the lung tubes are inserted through space between ribs[intercostal space].
it is likely that you are having pain due to entrapment of branches of intercostal nerves in the opn. scar.
you may benefit from drugs to relieve nerve pain----
carbamazepine or gabapentin.
discuss with your surgeon.

yes it is usual my husband still gets pain 6years after having his stapled to his chest but if your worried go to the doctors and see

One of the sites might be infected?
Make an appointment with your doc to check it out.
6 months is quite a while for the site to still be sore.

my hubby was stabbed 8 years ago by a thug. his lung collapsed and had the drain bit done. he was in hospital for a week and after about 3 months he went back to work. he hasnt had any pain since so after 6 months i think it would be worth getting it checked out.

That is chest tube. Go see a doctor to check out the pain. It might be infection.

The doctors will do a suture (stitch) on the wound. You don't "glue" up your lungs..

HTH..
