Will I need surgery?!

Question: I went to the doctor today and spent forever in there because things took an unexpected turn and he needed to draw blood from me for a test and was asking all these questions and performing all these tests.
He wants me to go to the hospital soon for a sonogram because he thinks I have chronic appendicitis.
Please answer my hands are like shaking and I cant get my mind off this.

You are probably being sent to the hosp. for an abdominal CT scan or sonogram to determine what is definitely wrong.

Chronic appendicitis is different than acute appendicitis, but also needs to be followed up. If you do need surgery, they can do it laproscopically. They make a few very small cuts, in one the put a tube with a camera at the end the others have tools. You will be put to sleep & the recovery period will probably be very short.

I've had 3 laproscopic surgeries & went home the same day for 2...1 when I had my gallbladder removed.

If the MD thought it was emergent, you'd be in the hosp. now. Just keep track of if your pain changes or your stomach becomes distended.

Google: mayo clinic>>diseases & conditions>>appendicitis

...but they only go over acute appendicitis.

Take some deep breaths & try to calm down in the meantime.

Good luck.

Go NOW! If it bursts or something happens you could get extremely sick. If it is appendicitis, you will need surgery. Also, the hospital could give you painkillers, which would help with the pain. Don't wait, it could have serious consequences.

If it is an appendicitis, then yes, it will need to be removed. Good luck to you!

Yes if you have appendicitis you need to have surgery. It's not a big deal lots of people have had there appendix removed.

Pfft. The Appendix is a totally useless organ. It can kill you but does nothing to help. Just go and get it removed.

It is a routine surgery, trust the Doctors. Don't shake, it's something many people have to have done. Not a big deal. It is covered under insurance if finances are an issue.

Best of luck to you!
