High Systolic pressure, normal diastolic pressure + tachycardia + looking very p!

Question: Hey,

I was at my doctors a few weeks back, and just got a copy of my notes yesterday.

Normal blood pressure (Was taken in the ER, so no white-coat hypertension was 120/80, resting pulse of 75).

What was said on one of the entries here was that my blood pressure was 130/80, pulse 100, and i looked very very very pale.

What could this be? anything serious? I've got a history of anxiety so the doctors aren't being so helpful...

Those signs are not particularly anything to worry about. 120/70 would be a better blood pressure. The slight elevation could be due to your anxiety. Ask the doctor if you are still concerned.

You're within "normal" range, so I wouldn't worry about it. If you go over 150/100, then it's time to worry.

Pale is a very subjective thing. Could be you were pale because you didn't feel very good, or had just gotten up, or any number of things.

As I said, unless you feel weak, dizzy, nauseated, or have pain in the chest or left arm, I wouldn't worry about it.

It' very possible that you're an over excited vampire!

There's no such thing as "normal range". But your readings are very typical of 'average', .. which is a slightly different thing.

The fact that your pulse rate was temporarily high is to be expected if your heart was trying to pump more blood round temporarily. Your heart beats both faster and more strongly if it needs to raise cardiac output (the amount of blood flowing per minute)

I don't know why you were in ER, -or at your doctor's, but whatever the reasons for your visits, clearly your B/P's and pulse rate had nothing to do with the cause of any symptoms. They give no cause for concern.

As for your doctors not being very helpful, this is not unexpected, because quite simply, most of them do not understand how the cardiovascular system works. It's a complex subject, they don't understand or absorb it in med school, and forget most of what they did understand, as soon as they leave. (Watch for the -ve 'BAD' marks coming up!!)
Lord, forgive them ,.... -for they know not what the do.....

130/80 is fine. I'm a cath.lab guy working in CV for 5 years now and living with BP problems. I cant seem to get below 130, all the docs say its fine, yes 120 is good but130 isn't bad. You also have to think about the device used the stethoscope/sphymomanmeter way is kind of hearing specific, research on how this manual way is done. Manual and automated like on a portable device, wall mounted, or in your neighborhood drug store or grocery store, may give you an inconsistent reading. If your really freaking out get a automated at home digital BP tester, and take your bp at a certain time each morning right when you get out of bed, before eating, drinking,or working out...this is the most accurate or BP and heartrate. The paleness.......eat good food, get outside, drink lots of fluid, and quit stressing!

I think there is a clue in your avatar name, you are a hypochondriac
