Answers: i lost a really good friend to cancer and i would never want it to happen to me. thanks!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend.

There are no foods or drinks proven to prevent cancer; smoking has been linked to lung and other cancers, and excessive sun exposure to skin cancers, but beyond that we are still pretty much in the dark as to what causes cancer.

You will have a lot of answers agreeing that diet is responsible and suggesting foods. This is because it is less frightening for many people who have not had cancer to 'blame the victim', ie to put the blame for cancer down to an individual's lifestyle -bad diet, lack of exercise, stress (even, as someone hilariously suggests here, poor hygiene!). Far easier and less scary than recognising cancer for the cruel and random disease that it is, one that could strike any of us at any time.

When I was diagnosed with cancer I had been a vegetarian for decades and a vegan for 12 years; I had been eating organic, loads of fruit and veg, I juiced, I exercised and I have never smoked. I still do all those things. Didn't stop me getting cancer, didn't cure me, and I'd be stupid to rely on my lifestyle to prevent recurrence or metastasis.

Anyone who tells you that they know of something that will prevent (or cure) cancer is well-meaning but deluded, or lying or trying to part you from your money.

I heard of tomatos.

lots of water,good hygiene,fruits,exersice,garlic,spinich,t... yougurt,green leaves vegetables,beans,nuts,soya bean oil,fish,aviod alchoal and smoking,aviod gain weight,

Nothing will prevent cancer, but you can lower your risks by eating 5 to 7 fruits and vetgables a day, lean poultry, fish, and beef, beans, good carbs such as whole grain bread and brown rice. Cut way back on soda and eat fresh foods you prepare, not premade, or Tv type diners. Also if you are old enough a glass of red wine a day is good for you too. I lost a good friend and my mom to cancer, so I sure can relate.

I'm sorry. I lost my Mom to cancer. There is NO proven way to prevent cancer of any kind and if someone says that they know of a way, They are either grossly mistaken or are LYING to sell you something.

"well, juice's, milk, water maybe tea ? from alan tiger . "

wheatgrass ( get in healthfood store) all antioxidants products fruits veggies green tea

I don't know to tell you the true.

It certainly is a horrible thing to have happen...

Unfortunately, it's hard to pin-point specific foods that'll help though because there are just so many different kinds of cancer, brought on by different things.

The easier way to prevent cancer is figuring out which ones you're most at risk of, then working around them. For instance, here in Australia, we have incredibly high rates of skin cancer from sunburn, thanks to our outdoor ways and good climate - so we aim to prevent that with sunscreen, etc!

Similarly, not smoking and avoiding smoke where possible can reduce throat/lung cancer risks.

And people who work in areas that are exposed to radiation take precautions (including limiting exposures, working behind shields - one of my jobs is in a mining plant and we use radioactive gauges but also all wear badges measuring our exposure - so we keep it at a safe level!)

However, all that said, I've heard that tea is a good source of nutrients (anti-oxidants, I think) that help prevent cancer - so that's worth a thought! A balanced diet and adequate vitamins, of course are vital. :-)

Look after your own health all around and you'll be much, much safer!
