How would one actually cause a kidney infection?!

Question: Don't worry, I DON'T want to do this. I'm just having an argument with someone about it..

first of all you need 'open belly surgery', then take the kidney out and leave it to stay with the chickens who are suffering from 'bird flu'. i think this will suffice for infecting your kidney.

if you need to go to the bathroom and you hold it in all the time!

Alcohol.

Too many ibrufen tabs can also cause you problems:)

Stop drinking water. That 'L do it!

I know that if you have a urinary tract infection and it goes untreated sometimes it can cause a kidney infection and the longer the worse and the more antibiotics you need and its not fun go the doc for a uti don't ignore it and hope it stops...as far as i know you can't purposely cause its usually caused by bacterial infection sometimes viral...

the only time i EVER had a kidney infection in my life was the one time in my life I drank a lot of alcohol. it was whiskey, it was every night for 4 months and i was stressed at the time.

i gave up and haven't had one since. Ibelieve the being run down caused me infection and the drinking led it to the kidneys or something similar. a direct correlation

For a woman, wipe your bum the wrong way round.
For a man to do this, his dangly bits would get in the way, so he wouldnt would he.
My wife says this is a terrible thing to say, LOL

Kidney infections almost always start at the bottom of the urinary tract and move upward - into the bladder, then up the ureters, and finally into the kidneys. The yeast or bacteria have to be introduced into the opening of the urethra in a female, penis in a male. Bacterial infections require direct contact with an infected surface, but yeast can infect through spores. The infections generally don't take hold if a person urinates within a few hours of infection because the urine flushes them out. So, to get an infection, a person has to introduce the pathogen into their system, and make sure it stays there for 8-12 hours or longer by not peeing or emptying the bladder entirely.

My partner had a kidney infection due to appendicitis as his appendix was in a funny position touching the kidney and the infection sort of transferred itself apparently!!
Other than that I think that undiagnosed/untreated UTIs can develop into kindey infections rarely, sometimes UTIs can be passed on, or triggered by during sexual activity - though they aren't actually sexually transmitted. Women tend to get sexually related UTIs more often, because sex can disturb all the bacteria around that area and put it in places you don't want it to be!
