Swollen ankles, feet; achy legs?!

Question: I have been told that this can be a sign of water retention, and it has happened before with just my ankles, which taking water pills eventually cleared up. However, my feet have never gotten puffy like this before, and both of my legs, especially the left one, are extremely achy as well. Could this still be water retention, and I just didn't catch it as soon as before, and if so, are water pills still a good enough remedy? Been this way for about a week now, and the swelling goes when I'm not so active and relaxing, then returns when I'm more active. Thanks in advance for any advice. ;)

check with your doctor, it happened to a friend of mine
he ended up having gout and also high blood pressure, not
sure of your age, but he was in his 50's

SWOLLEN FEET AND ANKLES ARE USUALLY DUE TO ---
1.VENOUS STASIS---EG. BLOCKED VEINS ,VARICOSITY
2.HEART FAILURE
3.REDUCED BLOOD PROTEINS--LIVER DISEASE,SEVERE ANEMIA,NEPHROTIC SYNDROME
4.WATER OVERLOAD--KIDNEY FAILURE
YOU NEED DETAILED INVESTIGATIONS.CONSULT APHYSICIAN.

It could possibly be arthritis or some effect of a medicine you take. See your doc.
