Ways to get rid of nasal congestion?!

Question: i've tried that over the counter stuff and those strips you put on your nose, but none of them seem to work. does someone know any "magical remedies" or something that get rid of congestion?

Wasabi gets the secretions going.

A neti pot can help clear it out, or taking a hot shower and blowing and sucking water up your nose and out helps.

Also, visualization of the passages clearing works for me pretty well.

There are prescription strength nasal sprays and pills. See your doctor.

A note, if you use the over the counter stuff too much you get what is called rebound congestion which means you can make it worse becasue your body gets used to it. So see the doc.

You have to find the reason. different diseases can cause stuffiness (allergy, polyps, overuse of over the counter medication, etc.) and naturally the cure will be different for each.

I've advocated the use of a Nettie pot or snuffing salt water (gargle strength)up each nostril. Just press finger on one nostril to keep it closed; cup some of the salt water in your hand, place the open nostril in the water in your hand and SNUFF! It stings a bit-don't swallow-as if runs down the back of the throat, hack and spit out! Repeat twice and do the other side. Your sinus will drain and you will have complete relief. Good luck!

Try over-the-counter DECONGESTANT nasal spray. Generic is just as good as the name brand. The one I have is the 12-hour kind that contains Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride 0.05%. Gross but works: Spray once in the nostril, work it around by rubbing the outside of your nose, then BLOW! Your nose stays clear for several hours. Use according to directions.
