Calluses Permanent?!

Question: Are calluses permanent or do they go away? I'm starting to learn how to play guitar and found out I will eventually develop calluses on my fingers. Will they be permanent or will they go away eventually?

If they require treatment in order for them to go away, what kind of treatment do they need? (such as applying lotions? or does this just help prevent them from forming?)

Lastly, what are the negative sides of having calluses on my fingers? (Such as: will i have less "feeling" with my fingers? or will I not be able to handle fine needle work such as doing stiches anymore?)

Thanks,
Justin

They can easily go away if you do the proper stuff.
Try sandpapering your calluses or possibly shaving them
Apply lotion to your hands to keep them soft and to get rid of the damaged look.
Theres many sandpaper type scrapers for your hands that are made for calluses that can easily help you.

They will go away if you quit playing music for about 3 or 4 months.
