Why does my asthma and anxiety always flare up when I'm behind the wheel?!

Question: I always seem to get asthma flareups when I'm behind the wheel. When I'm driving, and I don't understand why.

Is our stress level really THAT much increased when we're behind the wheel?

IF so, is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening when I'm driving? Maybe take a valium or something before hand?

I drive almost daily and I'd hate to feel asthma and anxiety symptoms.

This usually never happened in the past. But it keeps getting worse as I get older.

Is our threshold of tolerating anxiety diminishing as we age?

Anyways thanks.

Ofcourse driving leads to stress and you get stress
induced asthamatic attacks but that does not mean
you should give up driving, instead immunise yourself
by taking to YOGA. Remember you are getting old and
pollution on the road is also increasing and yoga is the
best way to combat asthma. Another factor is healthy
eating. What you eat, when you eat, how you eat and
how much you eat goes a long way in developing healthy
body along with yogic exercise. I should know as i am
an yoga therapist. Find a teacher near you who will guide
you personally. Learning from books and cds is a bit risky.
God bless and good luck to you. Cheers! :o)

Geez, don't take a Valium and drive - he rest of us want to live! Try something more natural like St. John's Wort.....a lot of people use this to calm their nerves for public speaking etc. Never take prescription type drugs unless prescribed by a doctor for you and don't drive unless a doctor tells you that you can.

Try these natural ways
Yoga, meditation, Pilate
Tapping technique
Affirmations and Self Hypnosis or Self Talk.
