Should I finish my doxycycline hyclate?!

Question: I am on doxycyxline hyclate but is gives me a rash. Should I finish it? I only have 3 days left. If I was to stop now what would happen? I would love any thoughts on this med. Thanks :)

A rash could indicate an allergy. It is hard to say what would happen if you stop now, since I don't know what your doctor prescribed it for. Usually with antibiotics, you want to take it for the full duration (to make sure you clear up the infection completely), however if you are allergic to the medication, that would not be appropriate. If I were you, I would stop taking the medication until you can contact the doctor that prescribed it. My recommendation is to contact the doctor first thing in the morning to find out whether he/she wants you to finish it & or take anything else instead. You shouldn't take anymore until he/she lets you know, in case it is an allergy, because the rash may get worse or you may develop further allergy symptoms.

stop it and call the doc for a different med-
if you discontinue it completely now it will be useless to have started it and you would've gotten the rash for nothing-the condition could come back and you will need a different med then anyway

I had something similiar happen to me. I called the doctor and since I only had a day or two left, they made me take it along with benedryl, which seemed to help the rash. If the rash got worse, they told me to call back and theyd switch me.
