How close are researchers in figuring out a way to have insulin delivered to the!

Question: There are many fronts where this issue is being addressed. Artificial Pancreas, Pancreas replacement; islet transplants and others. I think there was a finding in Toronto about a year ago on a new way to regenerate the pancreas.

I do not believe we are less than 5 years away from a real cure or insullin substitiute. I think there is too much money made by the pham companies to allow it to just end. Sorry for my negative attitude, but I have had diabetes for 34 years. I am doing fine, but the progress has been really slow. Slower than it should be.

Here are some great web links to look at.

an inhaler delivery system is already available, but not suitable for all

They already have pills and inhalers available.

There is a delivery system that your wear around your waist that automatically delivers the insulin to your body. You have a port installed in the beginning. You still have to check your blood sugar levels and adjust your insulin on the monitor which is located on the belt you wear around your waist. You should ask your doctor about this. It seems to work great for my friend! Good luck. God Bless.

last year they found an inhaler for insulin, but not for children, they took it off the marcket though because os too many side affects

There is the insulin pump. My stepson has it. You put a small tube in you side that runs to the little box with the insulin in it. You check your insulin levels and just push a button to deliver the insulin. It sounds cumbersome but it has given him the opportunity to be more in control of his diabetes.
