I keep getting sick, is there something wrong with me?!

Question: well in september i got a staff infection in my knee which caused me to get a fever and so i had to take antibiotics and it eventually went away but i have a scar on my knee. then towards the beginning of january i got a cough that lasted for while, after that went away hardly 3 days later i got a cold where my nose and eyes were incessantly dripping. after that cold went away i got a cold sore, as soon as i thought finally i was going to be healthy again because the sore was healing i got the flu, which is now and yesterday i was miserable. all i want is to be healthy again, is this likely???

Ohhhh buddy you've had a bit of a rough patch haven't you??!! The antiobiotics for the knee simply reduced your immunity levels and left you wide open for colds and viruses... it's not hard to bolster your immune system.

Here's just a few good old fashioned common sense things that you can do.Go get yourself a powdered form of ascorbid acid (vitamin C) with bioflavonoids from either the health food store or chemist. The bioflavonoids will increase the effectiveness of vitamin C 10 fold. Have 3,000 - 4,000mg (3 - 4 teaspoons) daily mixed with water until the cold subsides then maintain your immunity with 1 teaspoon daily.

Most health food stores also sell a product called Zinc Fix which combines the power of vitamin C with Zinc in a powdered form. The Zinc bolsters the effects of vitamin C and this is my powder of choice for a cold.

Drink vitamin C rich rosehips tea as this is the richest known source of vitamin C. (the organic loose leaf variety - it may be a bit more expensive but as it is organic you can generally reuse the spent leaves a couple of times as the essential oils are so potent).

Increase your intake of vitamin C rich foods on a dialy basis to prevent any further infection and to reduce the amount of time you are ill...... ie: citrus fruits, berries, leafy and green vegies, tomatoes and red and green peppers.

Loads of freshly squeezed juices are good too.

Ensure you are drinking plenty of pure filtered water to flush the germies out of your body .......... and keep you well hydrated ....... avoid sugar and also avoid caffeine containing beverages such as coffee, tea, soda and soft drinks, as these will only serve to dehydrate you and rob your body of essential B & C vitamins.

Ensure you are drinking or eating something with Beta - carotene in it daily to heal quicker and in future to prevent further colds, as Vitamin A will aid in the proper function of the immune system, shorten the duration of illnesses and generally bolster the health of the mucosal lining of your ear nose and throat ie: carrott juice, pumpkin soups, eggs, milk and dairy products.

Take a good quality multi B complex supplement on a daily basis both now while you're sick and for future prevention methods. The B complex of vitamins is essential for healthy immune, digestive and neural functioning and will help your body deal with the extra stress of being ill.

Things such as antidepressants, antibiotics, diuretics, laxatives and aspirin and most otc cold medicines and alcohol will also do a great job of robbing you of your precious B vitamins.

Nettle tea bought in the loose organic form from the health food store and brewed for 20 minutes, will help to heal and soothe a sore throat ifyou have one ........... the taste of nettle tea is quite bland and ordinary so perhaps spice it up with some honey or lemon juice.

Also, a good vapour inhalant when you have a cold is to put a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil into a salad bowl of hot water and .......... being carefull not to get so close as to burn your face ......... place a towel over your head and inhale the vapours. This will do a great job of clearing your sinuses, help in reducing any temperature you may have and to loosen and remove mucous.

Caution: Avoid using if you have high blood pressure or suffer from epilepsy.

Good luck & health & vitality to you & yours?

?

yes think of it as we all are gonna get a cold more than once this year and you are getting them out of they way.

Yes it's likely. I'm no doctor but you could have a weak immune system. Go to the doctor and get checked. Make sure you are taking vitamins, eating healthy, getting exercise and that you have good hygiene.

no its just because its winter.

seems like you are having a bit of bad luck with illnesses, lol

after your body goes through an infection, it is usually more susceptable to sickness because it is weak because it just had a war, literally, so other parts (like the lungs for a cough, throat being sore, etc) are less protected.

LOL its that time of the year, don't worry about it!
Also, have you considered that it might just be your sinuses?

weak immune system.
start drinking green tea.

yes its likely but you need to carry around hand sanitizer with you it will help keep the germs away. that should help. or take this medicine stuff called airbourne it really works. you can get at any drug store.

I think the same thing with me. I had a bad cold/flu in November and just this last week another run of it. I feel like I'm going to freaking die, I have ZERO energy!

Obviously, your immune system has been compromised somehow. Go see a naturopath or a homeopath. Try a hollistic approach and you will be much more successful as allopathic doctors tend to treat symptoms and not the cause.

In the mean time, avoid sugar and load up on vitamin c and echinacea. Sugar feeds infection and vit c and echinacea stimulate the immune system.

Sounds like your diet may need some serious tinkering. Take multivitamins, you'll be amazed at the world of difference they make.

the staph infection compromised your immunity. it takes a long time to get ove a staph even with antibiotics its a nasty thing to have my dad passed away (now mind you he was 78 and was gone within 3 months of getting it) from it.
your system is still fighting the staph that still has some of its "army" in your system so while your body is fighting that off its not able to fight off anything else or is weakly doing so..
once you get this nasty staph completely out of your system your body can go back to defending it against other diseases and viruses.
some people that get a staph get pnemonia because like i said the fact that the body is fighting the staph germs and cannot do two battles at one time with a full 'army' of your bodies natrual antibodies..

Staph is the shortened name for Staphylococcus (pronounced: staf-uh-low-kah-kus), a type of bacteria. These bacteria can live harmlessly on many skin surfaces, especially around the nose, mouth, genitals, and anus. But when the skin is punctured or broken for any reason, staph bacteria can enter the wound and cause an infection.

There are more than 30 species in the staph family of bacteria, and they can cause different kinds of illnesses
