Rash in my inner theigh?!

Question: This is going to sound nasty to some, but its even more painful for me. I am built pretty plump so yes my inner theighs rub together but in the crease (up towards my woman area) it has turned red, the skin has broken and its turned into somewhat of a rash. The whole area is like a broken red open wound. (very hard to explain). I do know it seems JUST like any other irritation I get like if i don't dry myself good enough after a shower or the moisture builds up. I guess my question is..does this seem like the same thing, since its in the crease of my leg and its just not healing as good due to no air really getting to it? I've been putting on antibiotic ointment and antibiotic powder but other than that the only thing I can come up with is laying down with my leg out to let the air get to it.....Any ideas or suggestions?

You are probably doing the best thing you can do ( I don't know about the ointment. It might actually hold moisture in the area). The powder seems like a good idea. If you shave that area, you should probably stop for a while and see if the rash clears up.

Also, if you've bought new jeans, changed bath or laundry products recently, this could cause the rash and you may want to change back to what you used before the rash appeared. If it continues to be a problem call your doctor's office and see what they suggest. Good luck! I know it must be uncomfortable.

Thanks and hope it gets better soon! Report It

  • Hmm, it sounds like it might be excema. If it's itchy, there's a good chance it is. Most doctors will give you a cream to rub on it. I'm pretty cure you can buy it at any pharmacy if you don't want to wait though. It's called E45 cream and it really helps!

my suggest would be to go to the doctor and get an anti-biotic cream to put on it so that it dries up and goes away because if you don't treat it, the irritation from your jeans rubbing against it will only cause it to get worse until it becomes infected then it will become more painful, sounds liek a heat rash to me, you can some times get them if you become too dehydrated or if you sweat alot and wear restrictive clothing that causes irritation (like working out in tight jeans)

I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa.of re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses , that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean or over wieght and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there.
    Here is a link :

or the HS_USA page is ..

If this sounds like it might be you, READ it, PRINT it out, and TAKE it to your DOC.
Its better to try to start treatment soon, it can spread over the body if left untreated. These boils can become quite large and painful. Sometimes even lasting for weeks or months , do not attempt to POP them they can then tunnel under your skin and spread all over the body. Most common areas are armpits, groin, binkni line, inner legs, and intimate places and basically anywhere that sweats and rub against clothing. Stress is a big inducer.

There is a support group at MSN

and a yahoo one, and I am open for questions!
I have had this for 8 years, I was misdiagnosed for a LONG time, It was very embarrassing, painful and scary. I am just trying to help out so you don
