Eating the food is only one cause of high cholesterol. The liver makes cholesterol on its own. As far as other methods to help get rid of it are concerned, try using the b vitamin called Niacin. The other thing that you have to be aware of is that Homocystein is a by product of cholesterol conversion Use folic acid to prevent homocystein.

Try meditating. You do realize of course, that it will take some time....

My husband and I both had this problem. Even though we were on the conventional meds, I know from exercising, like walking, riding bikes, swimming etc. lowers cholesterol considerable. I did something my MD frowned upon. I went on a fat free diet, walked or rode my bike only, and stopped taking the med. My cholesterol went from over 300 to 154 in one year. I don't recommend this for everyone and I don't think it's wise for people to go off their meds. I just wanted to see for myself it I could do it. You have to really be firm about not eating fats and your exercising. If you're on a med, don't stop taking it. If you're not, then try that diet and exercise. Good luck.

Diet . If you don't like Western medicine , try Eastern , Northern , or Southern medicine .

It is to take less of meat and fats consumed, eat more vegetable and cereal, drink a lot of water, exercise a lot and avoid taking preserved food with MSG and a lot of salt contains. :). - Student Nurse -

well, first let me tell you that some people bodies just mass produce cholesterol....my dad was the perfect example of this....if this is the case, then you absolutely need to use meds to lower it....
my dad was thin, ate exceptionally the right foods...no fat, no frying...etc...etc....but he STILL had HIGH cholesterol.....have it checked and see if your body is the type that just produces it more than most do naturally.yes, it is hereditary.....

Dyslipidemia is elevation of plasma cholesterol and/or TGs or a low HDL level that contributes to the development of atherosclerosis. Causes may be primary (genetic) or secondary. Diagnosis is by measuring plasma levels of total cholesterol, TGs, and individual lipoproteins. Treatment is dietary changes, exercise, and lipid-lowering drugs.
Self-care
Lifestyle changes are the first line of defense against high cholesterol. To promote healthy cholesterol levels, lose excess weight, eat healthy foods and increase your physical activity. If you smoke, quit.
Lose excess pounds
Excess weight contributes to high cholesterol. Losing even 5 to 10 pounds of excess weight can help lower total cholesterol levels. Start by taking an honest look at your eating habits and daily routine. Consider your challenges to weight loss
