Super-Extreme Sore Throat?!

Question: Alright, so let's get this out of the way first: I do not often complain about pains or other ailments, and I don't enjoy going to the doctor.. so I'm here on Yahoo! Answers instead. :)

For the past week or so, I've had a pretty nasty sore throat, but it started out with normal flu symptoms, so I expected it to go away no problem. I drank soup and tea with ibuprofen, no luck.

Lately I've been feeling less ill but my throat has been getting progressively worse. I haven't been able to speak since almost day 1. It doesn't feel like your typical swollen sickly sore throat.. more like there's razorblades at the very base of my throat (where my neck connects to the rest of my torso -- apologies for not knowing anatomy to better describe, but thats where it is!) It's actually gotten bad enough that I wake up frequently in the night and can't sleep for more than a few hours..

Does anyone know what this is? Is it normal, or should I actually go see a doc?

Sounds like tonsilitis, pain so bad you would rather drool than swallow. You can usually see white patches on the tonsils. If there aren't white patches, it could be strep or other throat infection.

Quickly eliminate it by heading to your local health food store and asking for GrapeFRUIT seed Extract liquid. Put 10 drops in 6 oz of water and gargle, then swallow. I know it will hurt a bit, but it really will help, and almost immediately. You can redo 4-6 hour until all pain is gone.

We use GSE as an antibiotic replacement and for every sore throat occurrence since discovering it. Our son is allergic to antibiotics, so we needed a workable alternative. GSE works so well, we've even started using the same dilution for ear infections and other respiratory ailments.

I hope you feel better soon!

I had this. Is it like so bad you can't even swallow and your scared to?
It sounds like tonsilitis to me, or maybe strep throat.
And yes you must see a doctor whether you like it or not, then you can get some antibiotics to clear it up.
good luck and feel better x

Put quite a lot of salt into some warm water and gargle with it, it will kill the germs. Just let your immune system deal with it.
I wouldn't bother with Dr's they only want to feed you drugs.

my answer is exactly the same as the first one so u should really really see a doctor if its that bad, it doesnt seem like the common flu 2 me it seems a lot worse and sometimes if its really bad some of the tissue can wear out in your throat so yes u should see a doctor. Hope this helps! Get well soon! :^)
