What is cardiac rupture and who is most at risk?!

Question: Cardiac rupture ONLY happens after a heart attack but it happens soon after the heart attack took place because your heart muscle will be pretty much dead (soft and easy to break) usually it has to be a heart attack that covers the whole thickness of the heart muscle. There are other anatomical (physical) complications that can happen after a heart attack...aneurysms, dressler syndrome, etc, etc. Know to address your exact question after discussing about what a cardiac rupture is : at risk is only someone with a RECENT FULL THICKNESS heart attack.

Cardiac rupture, an uncommon yet catastrophic complication after acute myocardial infarction (AMI), has been studied primarily in the prethrombolytic and thrombolytic therapy eras but not in the direct percutaneous coronary intervention (d-PCI) reperfusion therapy era.

rupture is literally a wall of the heart muscle breaking open, it is fatal. most at risk would be those with weakened hearts, like those who may have had many previous heart attacks, or some who had scarlet fever as a child and it weakened their hearts. it is a rare occurence.
