Your age and health could be determining factors. Bradycardia can be a symptom of a heart problem. However, if you're young and healthy and exercise regularly, it's probably indicative of a good, strong heart. Athletes have a lower heart rate generally.

Sorry menat have said I think I had a slow pulse rate when I was young. Report It

  • Are you a long distance runner? I ask the question because I also have a slow heart beat and I was never more at ease than when running cross country races at which I excelled.

people who exercise regularly do tend to have a lower than normal pulse rate. and this is ok. 54 is nothing to worry about as long as you don't have things like chest pain, dizziness, trouble breathing. make sure you are well hydrated. you should be fine.

a really good idea to ask your doc for a thyroid test as this is a symptom of underactive thyroid. just to be on the safe side, Jillyc
