Can you sweat out a disease?!

Question: I have a cough and a runny nose. Normal stuff. I was tired earlier today but after taking two naps I was feeling good so I went and played basketball. Can you actually sweat out a sickness?

In some ways yes.

If it was something like a cold then you sweat it out very easily if you drink fluids while you are sweating.

No.

The "sweat it out" theory has been proven false but not proven true.
so no, you can't.
i have the same thing as you and asked my doctor about it, and the best thing to do is rest.

Yep.

Only Herpes.

No more than you can bleed out a disease.

It's body heat that is going to help you get well, so if you are warm and sweat a little, that should help, but if you are using your energy to play basketball, then I don't think you are gaining anything, you need energy to get well too, but getting out in the sun really helps, the sun is really good for you, but don't get burned

*smiles* Wish that was possible. Unfortunately, you can not sweat out a sickness. The best way to get rid of the common cold is to get lots of rest, drink plenty of water to keep your body properly hydrated, and eat a healthy diet to give your body the nutrients it needs to keep it strong.

Note: Caffeine will not hydrate you; it will do just the opposite. So drink about 8 8 ounce glasses of water a day, and you should be alright.
