My sister has really oily skin too. Here's what I've learned from her:
1. Don't ever use a scrub. You don't want to stimulate your skin because that will only cause you to produce more oil.
2. Avoid harsh products (such as proactive) because, in the long run, they damage your skin.
3. You don't want to remove ALL the oil from your skin. That "squeeky-clean" feeling people get from soap isn't a good thing.
4. Use the gentlest cleanser you can find and use it consistantly twice a day. Over time this worked for my sister.
5. Clay or mud masks can also help.
6. Still use a light moisturizer.
7. If nothing works for you, your dermotologist can always give you pills to control oil production.
Proactiv didn't work for me either.
retin-a micro works wonders.
