The guys who first described the chickenpox virus were E. Paschen, 1919; EE Tyzzer, 1906; von Bokay 1909. But, the man to discover it was Von Bokay in 1888. But, I believe the first recorded case was in 1588 a women sued the Dr for imporperly diagnosing her.

don't think you can put time table on it. it probably was always w/us, just that it was called something else. try it on google and see what they say.
