Swollen joints?!

Question: I periodically get swollen knuckles, they become hot, swollen and hurt if I knock them.I saw my gp who didnt think it was athritis but reynauds syndrome and just told me to take ibuprofen. This doesnt help and after looking on the web about reynauds the only real symptom i have in common is the grey sort of colour my hands go in the cold. This has affected my toes too on occasions.Any ideas?

If I were you I would go back to your GP, tell him Brufen isn't working and ask to be referred to a rheumatologist for a difinitive diagnosis. Sounds really painful. Hope it improves and you get the help you need.

I think the rheumatologist is a good call, because I work with two ladies who suffer with Rheumatoid Arthritis and for both it started in the joints in their hands.
