How long is it safe to let my baby sun-tan?!

Question: I've been letting him tan for about 1 hour a day (we live in Phoenix), and he seems to have a healthy glow. Do you suggest I keep him out longer, or add oil?

well it might not be that great every day ,but i guess if you use a lot of baby sun-block ....

Are you crazy - he shouldn't be out in the sun period! Ever heard of skin cancer? Babies have even less protection from the suns rays than adults do! I hope you're joking!

Why do you want a baby to have a sun tan?? Sun damages the skin, especially delicate baby skin. I think one hour a day is excessive. I would use a good baby sunscreen whenever he is out in the sun to protect against sunburn and skin cancer later in life.

OMG! Don't let your baby SUNTAN! STUPIDDDDDDDDDDD. poor babeh :( suntanning is actually your skin like cooking and getting damaged.

Look lady.. just buy a tanning membership..haha

Its not safe to let any one sun tan - period. Put on sunscreen and give him a hat - so that he wont end up with skin cancer by age 20.

We have a rule in our house that none of the kids (or parents) leave the house without their hats on. Skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer, and IS life threatening.

If the child is out in the sun they should be wearing sunblock (Banana Boat Baby is great). The child should also have protective clothing, a hat & sunglasses. Everyone likes to be tan but babies have delicate skin & they are at a far greater risk of developing skin cancer than anyone. 1 hr is a lot but if the child does want to be outside that long keep him covered & make sure he is hydrated as well b/c babies are even more sensitive to heat/in danger of dehydration than adults. What the hell are u thinking suntanning a baby?

you should stop tanning your baby.
it is not safe for babies under 1 year of age to be exposed to direct sunlight.. and you should not use sunscreen on babies under 6 months.
no baby, toddler, child and even adult should be tanning for an hour a day.. you will get wrinkles, sun spots, uneven pigmentation, and then skin cancer!

Wow. You're using sunblock right? You shouldn't let a baby out in the sun just for the purpose of them getting a tan.

Are you crazy??? why don't you use sunless tanning lotion. Don't put that poor child out in the sun...
