Arrythmias causing SCD - sudden cardiac death are known to be painless. There are now a large number of documented cases of "missed" SCD whereby the patient suffers a life threatening arrhythmia whilst awake and it either corrects itself spontaneously or is corrected by swift medical intervention. These patients typically describe a blackout with no warning, no pain and have no memory of the event, often waking up to find themselves on the floor surrounded by worried looking people...

If this were to happen in sleep, much the same would happen.

I hope this is of help.

Probably not. Although it's impossible to say for sure, people who die suddenly, especially of that, don't usually seem to feel much. If they were sleeping they probably didn't feel a thing.

i don't think so because things assosiated w/ the heart, like geting a heart attack, don't usually give you warnings

Do i assume SCA means sudden cardiac arrest?

If so, then, if they were asleep, possibly, possibly not. It depends on how quickly the thrombus occluded the artery. If it was instantaneous they may not wake up at all as they would 'pass out' while asleep if you get me.

If it was a partial occlusion progressing to severe heart damage it could be very painful for a few minutes and then they would pass out before passing away.

Dying in your sleep is the most peaceful way to go, regardless of the cause.
Be thankful if that happened to your loved one.

no i wouldnt think so it would be like turning a light on and off
