I have scoliosis, and I'm an adult?!

Question: I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was laboring with my second child. I've had treatments but only one surgery. It was a laser surgery. Anyway I wanted to get away from all the poking and medications, so I now go to a holistic chiropractor for the last 3 years. It hasn't gotten much worse, even through another pregnancy. HOwever sometimes my lower back which is where it is the worst ((my hips are not in line at all right now)) hurts and siezes up. I don't know how to get the muscles to stop being so tight. Heating pads, ice packs, ibuprophin, and warm baths are only temporary, and the flare ups get worse with each occurence. Anyone with an idea?

Get hold of your local physio department through your gp practice, they can provide you with excercises designed to strengthen your 'core' muscles, this will be a long term remedy for your condition, providing you excercise on a regular basis, the excercises are actually quite straight forward.

If you do not suffer from asthma, please try Lyrica. It worked wonders for my pain (I was born with double scoliosis). Sadly, it made my asthma lethal.......and I had to quit taking Lyrica. My COPD really about did me in, when I took the Lyrica.

I'm the same way but no pregnancy's my chiropractor told me if I go once a week it will get better but I can't afford it. So I deal with the pain. My mom has been going for like 15 years and now only has to go every once and a while and her back is straiter and she hardly has pain anymore. I'd say stick with the chiro and follow his orders and in time it will help.

Warm baths will help ease the muscles and if you want something to help with muscle pain use Icy/Hot patches with you put on like a bandaid that should help its what I use
