What is the failure rate of transferring HIV through heterosexual intercourse?!

Question: I get conflicting sources. I do know that if you already have STD's, you are more likely to contract it.

Answers: I get conflicting sources. I do know that if you already have STD's, you are more likely to contract it.

Female to male transmission rates:

Uncircumcised: 1.3%
Circumcised: 0.5%

These figures come from a study of Kenyan truck drivers; however, an American study of monagomous couple in which the female was HIV positive and the male was not, the results were the same. 1 male in the 100 couple contracted HIV. This male had additional lifestyle risk factors.

Transmission rates for HIV postive male to uninfected female are far higher. They also vary based on viral load and circumcision. Studies in Uganda with males of a viral load less than 50k/ml show that there were no reported cases of transmission from circumcised males vs 9.6% in uncircumcised males. Again, that is with a low viral load. As HIV progresses the transmission rates increase. 65% of newly infected females in the US contracted HIV through a male partner. Most of those males confidentially admitted that they had sexual contact with another male. Most of those females denied that there man had sexual contact with another male.

Bottom line:
1. It's good to be a guy no matter how you look at it.
2. Wrap it. You don't know where that other person has been.

dont take any chances unless you want a funeral
