What is an average blood pressure?!

Question: I have 112 over 70 is that good or too low? I read that the average is 120 but i'm not sure what that means for me if mine is normal... I figure skate 5 days a week.

120/70 is considered normal, but their are exceptions, the normal for some people are a little bit higher or lower. I think you are fine with 112/70 nothing to be concerned about, as a matter of fact don't get worried unless your top reading goes below 100.

yours is perfectly normal. the average is 120/80.

Your blood pressure is normal. The norm is about 120/80. But lower is better, as long as it is not low because of disease or illness.

120/80 has long been regarded as "normal" BP, but in recent years 130/90 has come to accepted as "normal" for older people.

A doctor who took your blood pressure would say, "That's good."

For many years now physicians have been treating even moderately elevated BP because elevated BP puts pressure on the capillaries and even the veins. Over time, it can damage both of these.

If the drug companies get their way, doctors will someday be required to prescribe their meds for "potential" high PB or "preventative" therapy for BP. After all, even if your blood pressure is fine now, it could possibly rise in the future. Lol

What is your age? 117 /70 is fine ,.120 is systemic pressure and variable.70 is diastolic and will increase over age.tell you age if you have any doubts.

YOUR DR. can best answer this question with regard to the Systolic and diastolic numbers!

In spite of all the tosh written here, there's no such thing as "normal". There's "average", but that's quite a different thing.

Think of your height, your weight, or how many spots you've got today..... Think of your beauty, or your hair colour. Asking "what should be my "normal blood pressure" is the same as asking "what should the "normal colour of my hair be?" Can you see it's ludicrous?

I've forgotten what the average for female is, but for a male the rule-of-thumb is "100 + your age" for the systolic pressure. The one for females is a tad lower.

Don't be too hard on the doctors and nurses, -they don't know any better. They should, -but they don't. They just spread the mantra they've been taught.

I'll get many "thumbs down" marks for this (as usual) from the medics.... ignore them, as I do. It's better to be right than
stumbling around in the thickets of ignorance.

(Only ONE "Thumbs Down" so far.... something's amiss.)
