Husband has a bad cold sore....?!
Question: He just got over one bad cold sore and said it had completely healed, so he gave me oral as foreplay, the very next afternoon he developed another one....I am scared he put me at risk of getting a sore on my genitals. Does anyone know how big a risk I am at? He has always been careful but this was too close a call for me to feel ok with, I am really scared he put me at risk. Any information on this is helpful, I am currrently waiting for my dr office to call me back as well.

I am pretty sure that you are probably ok. The herpes virus that causes cold sores is different than the one that causes vaginal sores. However with that said, I have heard and actually know people that have transferred it by performing oral on someone who has it and they ended up with it in their mouth. There isn't much you can do now but wait and see but I think the chance of you developing a sore from this is literally slim to none. For future reference, tell your husband to get his dr to write him a prescription for Zovirax and when he feels the little tingle that is telling him he is getting a cold sore he needs to take the Zovirax and put ice on the area on his lips the sore is coming up in. Ice will keep it from breaking open if caught early enough. Zovirax works great when used as a preventative measure!!

Yes - he definitely put you at risk if he had any tingling or itching at all on his lip!
You should give his lip about 2 days with NOTHING there - including that little tingly feeling he gets (he'll know what I mean about that)
The only good news here is HSV1 (the mouth cold sores) prefer to live on the face (even in your eye!) and if he did give it to you on the genitals - you're likely to break out a few times and then barely see it - since it doesn't prefer to live down yonder.
Avoiding his washcloths and towel while he has a sore is also in your best interest - HSV can live outside the body for a few hours
It can happen even though it's not the same type of herpes virus, but I've read that it's uncommon.

the odds are against it, but there is a chance, if you start feeling the tingling down there and it not because of something good, you should see the doctor
