Have you heard that acne is caused by a Vitamin A defiency? Does it really work?!

Question: Yes, vitamin A plays a very large role in skin blemishes. Take Acutane, it is mainly large doses of vitamin A. That is why the skin becomes so dry.......why you cannot be lying out in the sun while you are on it...........things like that. However, as with most vitamins, you cannot just over do your body with vitamin A without a doctor's help, and expect it to clear your skin up. All vitamins, taken too much, can really hurt you. Often, doctors will try giving the patient, ONLY vitamin A to help with the skin. If this works for you, it is a great thing. Still, you do need to have a doctor watch over you while you take it. It has been said that Vitamin A keeps you from getting wrinkles, while Vitamin E takes away the ones you have. Still, you cannot just dive in to lots and lots of these vitamins.

Vitamin A or E is good for your skin. There is a brand "Jamenson" for vitamin A or E oil...you can purchase that at a pharmacy and apply it to the affected area; it is believed to cure it, according to what i have heard. But, if you want to know a better way to cure acne then instead of consulting an ordinary doctor, consult a HOMEOPATHIC doctor!! They have natural medicines. I have had MAJOR acne on my skin and the doctor prescribed oral medicine...it takes long to effect but when it does, its great!! i neverr got it again!!

not true - vitamin A helps the skin heal. Acne is caused by clogged pores, vitamin A will help it heal faster...

I heard that Vit A deficiency can cause night blindness and then eventually blindness that cannot be reversed but acne, no. I know the skin cells like it. Continue eating your carrots, leafy greens, and you won't be deficient in Vit A. Acne can be caused by many things but usually clogged pores.

no

well, vitamin A itself is a group of related biologically active molecules e.g. retinol, retinoic acid and retinal. vitamin A deficiency can cause follicular hyperkeratosis; rough keratinized skin which resembles goosebumps, while hypervitaminosis A can cause dry and puritic skin. so, make sure your vitamin A uptake is not more than 7.5mg/day. among the theraputic application of vitamin A, retinoic acid is used in dermatological problems e.g. acne and psoriasis. tretinoin is used for tropical application, isotretinoin is to be taken orally.
