Here is a simple solution that I discovered by accident. It actually got rid of the acid reflux that I had for 10 years.
After reading that lemon juice in water (about 3 tablespoons per glass) would improve your metabolism, I began drinking one glass a day. After a few days I realized that my 10 year bout of acid reflux was totally over.
I have since learned that I only have to drink it occasionally, maybe once every couple of weeks.
It apparently corrected the acid balance in my stomach. I never take anything for indigestion at all except the occasional lemon in water.
Plus I eat everything I want. No food changes.
anything with caffine, all food for three hours before bedtime, and stick a couple of books underneath your headboard to elevate the head of your bed. It will help.
Don't ignore this. If you have a hernia, you may have to take a medication such as Prilosec to prevent scarring of your esophagus. See your doctor to determine how serious your condition is.
avoid tomatoey - greasy - spicy foods.
try ginger. or gingerale.
be sure that you are lying down with your head 'up'........more than you would have it normally. Try to NOT eat or drink: alcohol, spicy foods, chocolate, bread, tomatoes, citris drinks, caffeine, onions, chilis, garlic, ..........and all the other things I seem to love! Seriously, I have GERD and it makes a huge difference. I take Nexium when it is really bad.
Sleep on a 45% angle, don't eat before bed, stay away from spicy food, even citrus. If it is very severe talk to your doctor and get a prescription for it.
Listen to Brad (and me now, for that matter) Quit the caffeine and dont eat anything within three hrs of bedtime I cant prop my head up any higher because Im a quadriplegic and I have to lay flat but I have stopped drinking caffeine and no snacks within three hrs of bedtime
