I'm extremely sick! what can I do to feel better?!

Question: I woke up on Saturday, quite hung over, but also unbelievably stuffed up. My nose is running a marathon, every time I sneeze it feels like sand paper with broken glass glued all over it rubbing against the inside of my throat. When I try to sleep I have a tickle in my throat and keep coughing, which keeps me awake! What can to get rid of the tickle in my throat, and to feel better in general?

lol; i got drunk too. (: um idk, but i hope you get better! (:

First off, were you in a bar that allowed smoking? You might want to consider the fact that you may be allergic to cigarette smoke. I can barely go out to a bar or club where smoking is allowed without feeling like trash for the rest of the weekend.

Your best bet to feeling better is to take medicine (DayQuil and NyQuil are wonderful), drink loads of water, and get plenty of rest. If it doesn't go away in a week, call the doctor.

I hear the flu is moving north and Canada is next. You may be getting the flu, which is no joke. If you get to a doctor within 48 hrs of symptoms, they can give you tamiflu or another flu med to fight it off. Otherwise hang on for a rough ride. You may get a fever, chills, big time body aches, head ache, cough, chest pain, etc. Main thing is too keep track of your breathing and respiratory function. You don't want to get pneumonia. Most likely your symptoms will be viral and anti biotics will serve no purpose. But then again, you could add to your problem with a good old sinus infection which can be resolved with anti biotics. I use suedafed to keep my sinus passage moving so things don't clog up. Drink plenty of water and rest in order to re-boot your immune system. Expect to feel rough for 7 days with about 3 days in hell.
