You may have keratosis pilaris. It's a hereditary condition without a cure. I have it on the back of my upper arms and on my upper legs. The treatment I find most helpful is to exfoliate (use a Buf Puff or Loofah) and then moisturize with a good thick lotion. This will make it better, but it won't go away completely. If you really think that it's the result of sunburn, have your doctor look at it. Sun damage to your skin can be very serious. Just a suggestion, but you should reconsider the sweater altogether. A lot of people have this condition and it's not worth making yourself uncomfortable during school. If you absolutely want it covered at all times, try a light cotton long sleeve shirt so that you can at least be comfortable while in school.

Keratosis pilaris is quite common. Probably 50% of people have it to some degree. It is genetic, and you are right, there is nothing you can do about it. I have it on the back of my upper arms. As you age, the condition gets less and less. Using an emollient skin lotion helps. Something like Lubriderm or Aveeno are good choices. You are probably more sensitive about it than you need to be. Other people may not even notice it.thats my opinion.have a good day

I and my daughter have it on the back of our upper arms and it's aggravating, but I still wear sleeveless. Mine just developed recently, but she's had hers for a couple of years. I have tried all kinds of lotions and creams, but the best one I've used is for the face. It's a little expensive, but it lasts a long time. Be sure to use it on your elbows, too. It's Estee Lauder Resilience lift. Just use it when you are going to be wearing short sleeves, because nothing is going to completely repair it unless you go to a dermatologist and get microdermabrasion and that's very very expensive. This cream makes the skin so soft that you don't even notice the bumps or as my daughter calls it "chicken skin". Good luck. If you can't afford the Estee Lauder, try Eucerin lotion. It did help me some and it's not expensive.

Im not positive that what you have is the same but my daughter developed white spots on her ankles about 5 yrs ago...it spread all the way up her legs to the point where she would not show her legs. After taking her to about 3 different dermatoligists...I had the dr take a scrape sample to be examined and it turned out to be a fungus. She was prescribed Lamasil pills which cleared up the spots in about 3 or 4 weeks.
