Exactly what one would expect i think. This occurence is common with celebrities, they can't afford the scandal of taking illegal recreational drugs- especially because so often they travel and one scandal can ruin them in regards to the producers and directors and agencies they want to work with.

So they shop around to doctors, and they get prescription drugs that have intoxicating effects like Oxycontin and many kinds of sedatives like temazepan (which is a favourite amongst ex-heroin users). Unfortunately, these drugs build toxicity very quickly, many are tolerance building and many are incompatible- many people die this way i don't see anything suspicious, ledger went the way of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe. It's so very sad and so very ordinary, and theres not much you can do to prevent deaths like these apart from giving people a good sound drug education- and sadly, that's something that has never been on the governments agenda.

Seems like the truth. The guy had prescriptions for all kinds of crap. He was probably going to different doctors to get them. It really is sad.

It is very sad ..........But what also make me so mad is the people who really need the medication is for ever going to be treated like scum because of those people who abuse it and use it like that. But I do feel really bad about it..
What I just don't understand is why did the Doctor or the Pharmacist not know that they can't be taken together like that.. Why didn't someone say something to him..

sounds like someone put the pills there, and that person wasn't heath.
Did you hear about that guy who was found in his car and there was blood in it, pills, and some sort of gas container.
A witness said that they saw a cop throwing away a piece of evidence.
And it was later deemed as an accident. Now that sounds suspicious.

everything happens for a reason though Sparks, when it's somebodys time, it's their time, doesn't matter how it happens, but it will happen when it's meant to happen, we've all got one!

Just goes to show sparks what can happen when you abuse prescriptive medication !!

Yes it is sad B and one wonders why he was prescribed so many different medications in the first place - those people have blood on their hands for sure.

Sad, that's the problem with Private medicine, they just give them What They Want, Not what They Need.
How would the ordinary man on the street have all that mish mash prescribed to him?... he WOULD NT.

Tragic waste of life -I wish I could understand why people feel the need for drugs - the best one O2-fresh air

Regardless of what people think i will actually will miss heath ledger. He was such a fantastic actor and the world has lost such a an amazing guy. I think personally myself he was a little bit depressed and with the media chasing all the time and giving him hard time didnt help things much. Think about it this way if were in his shoes and you never got a break of course you would have to go on meds to try and help you deal with depression.

My heart actually broke that night hearing the news of his death and he will be missed by everyone.

I think it could have been prevented but noone knows what happened that night the only two people who knew what happened is god and heath.

You see people are not the same when they are depressed. I know this coz i tend to get bouts of depression myself but i soon get out of it with counselling.

i mthink this was a accidental death, myself, but its surprising is it not, you think these filmstars are so perfect and happy, and underneath they are not, they are under pressure in their private lives, the papparatizzi always wanting photos film dead lines is no wonder they dont sleep, eat, properly, or allowed to be normal and have privacy and happiness be alone. so i guess the pills he took helped him and i think under pressure confusion he took them twice or three times, and bang it killed him, accidentally, sad though as he was great in brokeback mountain, and a knight's tale, and at 28 too, may he rest in peace, sadly missed.

HI Sparkles. Could it have been prevented? It seems as though he was suffering from some sort of depression, hence all the medication, but as a person who suffers with long bouts of depression, I also get the urge to simply take an overdose. what I can't understand is why he had so many anti depressant medication in the first place. I only take two at most, plus others to aid sleeping and keeping a balanced level of lithium in my body. There is a possibly he was in a manic depressive state with no one to help him with his need. From what I can understand his only hold on life was his daughter. but even in a manic state, this just goes out of your mind,

Celebrity's are public scrutinized so much. Time after time the same with Marilin Monroe , Elvis, Anna Nicole and soon to be Britney if the don't leave her alone.
