I'm allergic to peanuts. Would I be able to eat hazelnuts?!

Question: I know it is often used in chocolate and desserts...

Answers: I know it is often used in chocolate and desserts...

There is a chance - at least 33% of people allergic to peanuts are allergic to tree nuts (some studies estimate it's as high as 50%).

I recommend you go see your board certified allergist for further evaluation and education.

Good luck!

Peanuts and tree nuts are two different areas. I would suggest though that you avoid them as much as poss.

The stats are high for if you have an allergy to one(tree or peanut) That you probably will get the other

Although its different i suggest you don't. Sometimes peanuts are made in the same place as the hazelnuts using the same equipment.

you really need an education about your allergy. return to the allergist. carry your epi-pen and benedryl with you always.

You might. Are you allergic to other nuts as well? Peanuts are actually a legume, not an actual nut, so you might not be allergic to hazlenuts.
