Am i a Hypochondriac?!

Question: The last time i had a throat infection i thought it was Glandular fever but my blood test showed i didn't. When learning about HIV at college i started to become paranoid that i might have it and wouldn't know until it was too late. I'm an athlete and i train 6 times a week, in the last year i have had to miss a lot of training because i suffered from extreme tiredness and muscle fatigue. I am now starting to think i could be diabetic but i don't want to get yet another blood test saying there is nothing wrong with me. Why do i have all these symptoms?

You can actually generate false symptoms by worrying too much. The brain tends to work on acts of conditioning. If you constantly think you're ill, you'll probably start to feel ill.

I went through a stage like this a couple years ago. Any little pain and I thought it was this grave disease and I was in trouble. You just need to tell yourself to shut up because none of those thoughts are based on anything credible. Remember...it's all speculation.

yeah you definetly are . god calm down

Are you sure you just didn't have strep? A lot of people get that. No biggie. If you automatically assume it's HIV you are def a hypochondriac.
And being an athlete will make you extremely tired.

Hypochondriacs research a whole bunch of diseases and only start realising the symptons when they read about it. They go to doctors and start giving suggestions on what they have.

You seem to be a mild hypochondriac

I agree with baby incen. You are worrying too much about illness and its affecting your body in a negative way. I see this in patients that I take care of all the time. The mind can do amazing things if you manipulate it that way. Do yourself a favor and stop thinking the worse. As long as you get a yearly physical and you pass with everything normal dont stress out about every little symptom. You should concentrate more on preventative measures like good diet, exercise, not smoking, and drinking only in moderation. If you think about how to stay healthy you wont have to worry about always being "sick".
