In the winter we live in closed environments with artificial heat which helps the germs breed, keeps us closer to each other for contact and passing germs, and also keeps us out of fresh air and sunlight which is know to help the immune system.

Some recommend cracking a window or two open, even with the heat running, for a couple hours a day to change the air. Also, getting out in the sunlight without any sunblocks or lotions on the skin and absorbing some sun. Even if it is just the uncovered face, it will help. We get Vit D from the sun, which is very important to many bodily operations including immunity. If you can't get enough sun, add a D supplement for the winter months.

As far as A/C in the summer, you still tend to get out more. And homes where people stay in and keep the A/C on are usually sicker homes in my experience. It is never best to keep the home shut up. When we have A/C on, we usually shut it off at night if possible and use our attic fan to bring in some fresh air through open windows.

Also, the foods we get in the winter are usually trucked farther and less fresh, so they have lost many of the antioxidents that keep our immune system running. Even if you buy organic, and they are out of season in your area, they are not a power packed. Of course, non-organic foods aren't that nutrient packed when they are in season.

germs love heat. people tend to run the heater higher than needed to. the heat in the homes are a breeding ground for germs. i open my windows and spray lysol evey chance i get, and my heater is set on 66-68 degrees, to much heat is not good, also dries you out.

I don't understand that either hon but it seems to work that way.I've already had one bad virus this winter & don't want to go through that again.I just don't know how to prevent it.I keep my heat on 60! Take care
