Interstitial markings simply means that the Radiologist is able to see the interstitial spaces between the alveoli of your lungs. A lot of these markings localized to one area of a lung can indicate that something is going on in that area. It could mean pneumonitis, ( a simple inflamation,) pneumonia or any one of many lung conditions.
Everyone has interstitial markings when they have a respiratory infection!
