Should euthanasia be a legal option for terminally ill patients?!

Question: agree or disagree with the topic

Answers: agree or disagree with the topic

while hypothetically it sounds like a "merciful" idea.

But who conducts it? who makes the decision? who is eligible? what if the patient is only partially able to communicate? is that patient eligible? how do we make sure that patients that have been killed actually wanted it? what defines terminally ill? technically we're ALL terminally ill from being alive. do we only take disease into account? what about injuries? a double amputee can live a full, long healthy happy life, but shortly after the experience many might opt to die. what about (excuse the term) crazy people? can they make this decision for themselves? if not, then who does make it?

assisted suicide is a very "pretty" idea, but once you get in close and start to take a good hard look at the details, you see that actually making it work, and work well is completely infeasible.

most people think only about a very narrow minded situation in regards to this issue. that's the old person, confined to a wheel chair in extreme chronic pain, with multiple organs failing, and monthly major surgery keeping them alive. Someone with a sound mind that wants to die but can't physically lift the toaster into the tub.

I'm sorry but that kind of person is only the tip of the iceberg on this issue. And you can't just deal with the tip, you have to avoid or embrace the ENTIRE iceberg.

I STRONGLY AGREE EUTHANASIA BE A LEGALOPTION FOR TERMINALLY ILL PEOPLE.

AMEN

It already is.....they just use different forms of terminology to sustantiate it. DNR....Medically Induced Coma...and a few others.
R~

Agree, but only to be decided by the ill person.

What about the terminally stupid?

No. because eventually we'll be killing people for just being old.

No, only God should have that decision. I think it is ok for a person to refuse medical treatment or food if they are terminally ill, and want to go to heaven. But for someone to purposefully take another's life, just because they are "terminally ill" is not ethical, nor is it right for someone to commit suicide because they decide they are done with life. Only God can make that choice.

Dr. Jack Kavorkian and the Helmlock Society both believe in this practice and put for an action. Dr. Kavorkian served 8 yrs in prison for second degree murder for assisting people in terminating their life with a terminal illness. Personally I believe that we should be allowed to die, with dignity and peace, when there is no longer any hope for recovery and we no longer wish to continue. My poor sweet mother died from stomach cancer. At the end she was begging for someone to kill her. (she was in Florida and I was in NJ) Why did she need to suffer like that? May she rest in peace now!

What you saying is that you should be able to kill people. Who gave you that authority ? Both my parents suffered for years but, wanted to continue with life for their grand kids and, see them mature. It was very hard on us but, they both lived for many years, my dad with three types of cancer but, he was vary happy to see the grandkids when they came for visits.

I wouldn't take this away from them.
