Severely asthmatic and embarrassed?!

Question: You witnessed someone who is typically shy and quiet have a severe asthma attack, then rushed to the hospital as they were put on a breathing machine and given oxygen. The next time you saw them, it was a few days later. They were very quiet, still sick and retreated back into their shell. At one point they mentioned how they were embarrassed about what happened.

How would you react to their behavior? What would you think?

Tell them it is NOT necessary for them to feel embarrassed to be an asthmatic because the number of new asthmatics being diagnosed everyday are on the rise due to increased air pollutions..

Tell them that if they are suffering from piles or AIDS or STDs or some sex diseases, then they SHOULD be embarrassed..!

I am an asthmatic myself and i don't care what happened during my asthma attack in public. I just whipped out my asthma inhaler and use it in public and if i need ambulance, i will ask the passerbys who loved to stare and stare at me to call an ambulance for me...!

Don't let asthma made you embarrassed. It is nothing..

Did you go with them to the hospital? I would have just been there for them and told them it's okay don't be embarrassed that they can't control what happened to them and they did what they needed to do. I would be thinking that that must have really sucked for them. Give them a hug and tell them don't worry about it. Maybe you could ask them if they take preventative medicine or you could do some research for them on different medicines or things that they can do to control their asthma because they may not be aware of so many options out there. It's important for them to be active which they may not realize that.

ask them why they are embarrassed. Tell them there is nothing to be embarrassed about. They have asthma.

Then ask them to tell you what you should do if they ever go into a severe attack again to help.
